Mastectomy Reconstruction with Implants

The removal of a breast due to breast cancer presents both physical and emotional difficulties for women. In addition to battling the disease, they have to deal with the possible loss of one or both the breasts. Today, mastectomy reconstruction offers a range of surgical procedures to completely reconstruct breasts.

Breasts can be reconstructed using implants or with the patient's own tissue. Especially after the FDA approved the use of silicone breast implants, the former procedure has become very popular. Dr. Becker uses a revolutionary, one-stage procedure for breast reconstruction or mastectomy. His "Becker Expander Implant" enables a single stage reconstruction, performed at the time of mastectomy. So patients can regain their natural appearance with only one major surgical procedure.

Contact us today at our Boca Raton location to find out if we can help you. We look forward to setting up a plastic surgeon consultation and beginning the process of making you feel better, both physically and emotionally.

When the cancer in the breast is confined to a small area, it is not necessary to remove the entire breast. It is possible to remove the localized malignant tissue with a lumpectomy. Breast reconstruction usually follows immediately.

This is done with a tiny incision either under the armpits or at the side of the breast. It causes no extra scarring and, in most cases, the results are excellent. The opposite breast can also be reconstructed to match the size of the treated breast.

If the shape of the breasts is severely affected due to lumpectomy, there is a range of options available to women. They can either go for implants or autogenous reconstruction. Dr. Becker would be happy to discuss mastectomy reconstruction options for you.
